Coros Unveils Dura 2 Solar GPS Cycle Computer with Advanced Features

Coros has officially launched its state-of-the-art Dura 2 Solar GPS bike computer, a device that promises to revolutionize the cycling experience through its advanced features. This new model boasts a larger touchscreen, intuitive voice control, and robust offline re-routing capabilities, setting a new benchmark in cycling technology. Enhancements also include detection of climbs without pre-loaded routes, live tracking, and comprehensive new fitness metrics accessible via its companion application. A standout feature is its impressive battery life, offering up to 120 hours, further augmented by efficient solar charging, which can add two hours of usage for every hour of direct sunlight.

This cutting-edge device showcases a significant design overhaul from its predecessor, featuring a 3.5-inch Sharp Memory-in-Pixel touchscreen, a notable increase from the previous 2.7-inch display. The construction now incorporates a premium aluminum alloy upper bezel and a woven carbon fiber backplate, departing from the earlier reinforced polymer body. This not only gives the Dura 2 Solar a more sophisticated appearance but also contributes to its remarkably thin profile of just 5.7mm at the upper bezel, enhancing its aerodynamic efficiency. Coros CEO Lewis Wu emphasized the company's vision to create a device that is not only functionally superior but also aesthetically pleasing, seamlessly integrating with high-end bicycles. The user interaction is diversified, allowing control through physical buttons, touch input, and voice commands, making navigation and operation more convenient than ever before. Furthermore, the device supports offline re-routing, requiring only a Bluetooth connection to a phone with pre-downloaded map regions, eliminating the need for a mobile signal during rides.

The Dura 2 Solar is designed to be the central hub of a rider's data, integrating smoothly with the broader Coros ecosystem. Recorded rides automatically upload to the Coros app for in-depth analysis and fitness tracking. The app also facilitates route creation and consolidates data from other Coros wearables, such as watches and heart rate monitors, providing a holistic view of performance and recovery. Compatibility extends to popular third-party cycling and training applications like Strava, Komoot, and TrainingPeaks, ensuring versatility for most cyclists. Scheduled for release on November 3rd, the Coros Dura 2 Solar will be available for purchase at £429 for the unit alone, or £479 bundled with a mount, making it an anticipated addition to the cycling technology market.

The advancement of cycling technology, as exemplified by the Coros Dura 2 Solar, consistently pushes the boundaries of what is possible, empowering cyclists with more data, convenience, and safety. This continuous innovation reflects a broader human desire for progress and self-improvement, encouraging individuals to explore new frontiers in their physical pursuits. By integrating sophisticated features into everyday tools, these technologies inspire a more active, connected, and informed lifestyle, fostering a spirit of adventure and a commitment to personal well-being.
